About Us

Theresa Albert Ratchford has been helping busy people eat better and find more personal time since 1995. She holds double diplomas in both Hotel School and Nutrition School. At George Brown College she studied Food and Beverage as well as Hotel Management and earned her DHN (Diploma in Holistic Nutrition) and RNCP (Registered Nutritional Counseling Practitioner) from joint credits at Ryerson University and the Edison Institute of Nutrition. As a busy mother of one, balancing work and home, she knows first hand how important it is to get beautiful and healthy food on the table - and sit down to eat it.
Theresa has cooked for clients in their own homes and has also taught them how to do so for themselves. Her expertise lies in making the shopping/cooking/storing/ eating process healthier and more efficient. She teaches adults privately, in groups and at various cooking schools in the GTA. Her classes are always well received for their humorous, no nonsense approach to making great meals efficiently and making weeknight meals a pleasure.
Since 2001, Theresa has also taught a popular cooking class called Kids Can Cook, for kids in grades 2-6, at her home in the beaches in Toronto. An advocate of including kids in the process of cooking, she notes that “a child eats better when they have invested their own effort in the process.”
Harper Collins Canada published her book "Cook Once a week and Eat Well Every Day," in 2005 to rave reviews. (See Media page) It contains 12 weeks' worth of meal plans which are family friendly, affordable, healthy and simple. Each section guides the reader through the process of shopping for everything needed to cook for the week, and cooking it all in one easy cooking session. Her book is loaded with nutrition tips and ideas for second suppers (formally known as leftovers.)
Theresa's daily show on Food Network Canada, ”Just One Bite" airs Monday to Friday at 8:30 am. This program invites families to share their challenges with food. Kids explore their own limits while parents learn from Theresa a new recipe which includes tricks and tips to keep the kids involved and the parents interested.
Theresa sees clients privately in two locations, one in the beaches in Toronto, one at Yonge and Eglinton at the prestigious Yorkville Club Uptown. (See Services page)
